1970 - Potlach

First big hit: Maggie

The second "Redbone" album contains their first hit: "Maggie". It's not often that I like big hits (in general) but this one has something special. The two brothers share the lead vocals (they both have great voices). Shorter songs, no instrumentals, Redbone was trying to get on the radios as much as possible. But they didn't loose their unique sound, on the contrary, it was condensed and stronger. Tony doesn't sing any leads on this one.

Maggie

Does the sun really rise?
Is the moon big and yellow?
Will a flame grow inside the man at hate?
Does the mind really rule?
What is love? can you touch it?
Do you fall when you sleep or not at all?

When the clouds disappear is the rain going nowhere?
Will a tree grow in space?
What is a song?
And is life just a dream?
Can you see is there Heaven?
Is a man flesh and blood or made of mud?

Will the master of all shadder a sweet thunder?
Will the garden of even be saved?
Or will man be the cause of his final destruction?
In a day who can say anyway?

Is there warmth and desire?
Does the light last forever?
Is a tear bits of pain or just a crime?
Is the night really black?
And the morn the day after?
Who can say what a day is anyway?

Will the master of all shadder a sweet thunder?
Will the garden of even be saved?
Or will man be the cause of his final destruction?
In a day who can say anyway?
In a day who can say anyway?

Will you be counted when the roll call comes?

Spread your wings and fly, the future's ours

The masters of your own domain in the thirteenth hour

Give peace a holiday and time to grow

Give us just a little more time

Give us just a little more time

Give us just a little more time

Give us just a little more time

Number thirteen give a man his dream

Number thirteen give a man his dream

Late night blooming blossom like a flower

In the thirteenth hour

'Til the thirteenth hour

Give peace a holiday and time to grow

Give us just a little more time

Give us just a little more time

Give us just a little more time

Give us just a little more time

Will you be counted when the roll call comes?

Will you be counted when the roll call comes?

Few have seen your beauty like the Indian has.
